The Challange

Oilfast, a new company delivering fuel oils to businesses and consumer’s homes, had no existing telecoms infrastructure so were keen to take advantage of new technologies such as VoIP and EFM to ensure their business was future proof.

A hosted telephony system with a mixture of data connectivity circuits at each of the customer’s sites.

Our Channel Partner, Lithium Systems, introduced Oilfast to HighNet to discuss their telecoms strategy going forward and what they require from a new telephone system. Oilfast had heard about the benefits of switching to SIP for their voice and were keen to capitalise on the position they were in of having no legacy phone system to replace. As a rapidly growing business, they were looking for a system that could be easily implemented across new sites, as and when they were operational. As part of our proposal we were also to provide the fastest, most cost effective internet connection at each site.

The Proposal:

David Hogg proposed installing our Horizon telephone system across all sites. We would also provide a business grade internet connection to satisfy all of their data needs.

The Horizon solution was perfect for the customer as we were able to get it installed as soon as the internet connections were live. This worked out well as they had many sites opening within a short space of time and wanted to be up and running as quickly as possible.

The fact that Horizon can be managed through an online portal was a bonus in that it allows those with administrator access to make changes to the system e.g. add new users, set up call groups, change diverts. We also have access to the customer portals at admin level so can give assistance where required.

Via our longstanding relationships with some of the country’s major suppliers, we were able to provide a range of different options for internet access at each site, in each case looking for what would be the most cost effective for the customer. Some sites required greater bandwidth than others, so we proposed a selection of circuits from a dedicated EFM at Head Office to a converged ADSL2+ at one of the smaller sites with only a couple of handsets.

The Outcome:

Horizon is now deployed across Oilfast’s existing sites; when they add new sites to their estate, it is as simple as ordering new handsets and an internet connection. Horizon’s scheduling capabilities allow them to effectively manage their call handling, diverting to mobiles out of office hours and having the ability to route calls differently for holidays. Their call centre has also benefitted from the performance statistics and call recording feature, which is essential for the nature of their work.

Oilfast are now in talks with HighNet about their mobile phone connections as they look to achieve even more savings by taking advantage of our Corporate Square deal offering free calls between all of their landline and mobile numbers.
